Basak Balaban obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1993 in Ankara University , Turkey; Faculty of Sciences; Department of Biology. Consequtively she had her training in reproductive biology in Brussel Free University, Belgium and had her practice in Assisted Reproduction in SIMAF (Schoysman Infertility Management Foundation)IVF Center, Brussels , Belgium. Followingly she worked in Sevgi Hospital IVF Center in Ankara, Turkey as a clinical embryologist . She established the IVF Laboratory in German Hospital, Istanbul , Turkey as the laboratory director in 1996. She moved to American Hospital of Istanbul , Turkey by the end of 1996 at which she still acts as the head of IVF laboratory. She also acts as the scientific advisor for the affiliated Koc University hospital IVF department since 2015. She’s been actively involved in the educational training programs in Turkey as the head of the IVF laboratory for an IVF center dedicated by the Turkish Ministry of Health for the certification program of clinical embryologists. She has published extensively in the field of clinical embryology with over 50 international publications to her name. She had several book chapters for both local and internationally well known organizations. She had served as a local and international invited speaker at several scientific meetings.
