Dan is a Specialist Trainee in Obstetrics & Gynaecology and a Senior Research Associate at the Institute for Women’s Health (IfWH). Prior to joining UCL, he completed a BA in Ethics and Psychology at the University of Cambridge, followed by a PhD in behavioural neuroscience at the University of Oxford, focusing on how learning is consolidated at the physiological and molecular level. From 2016-19 he was completed a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship as a postdoctoral scientist at the Translational Research Centre, IfWH. Dan leads the ethics module on the two flagship MSc programmes of the Institute and also teaches at the UCL Medical School. In 2016, with support from a grant from UCL and Prof Joyce Harper, he created a free online course entitled Making Babies in the 21st Century on the Futurelearn platform. It has so far had over 12,000 students enrolled from over sixty countries, learning about and discussing the disruptive impact of the new reproductive technologies.
